Worthington Public Utilities purchases all of its energy from outside sources. Hydroelectric dams on the Missouri River supply approximately 30% of Worthington’s power requirements. Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) provides this allocation of power.
Approximately 70% of Worthington’s power comes from Missouri River Energy Services (MRES). Missouri River Energy Services’ primary source of supply is a coal-fired power plant in Wheatland, Wyoming, called Laramie River Station.
